GEOGRAPHY 5
GEOGRAPHY LAB
PHOTO JOURNAL/CLASS REQUIREMENTS
In order to complete this class, you need to keep a photographic journal/log
of the field trip. This requires taking a digital camera and photographing each site as instructed on this handout.
At the end of the class, you must:
1. Turn in your Photo Journal and Field Questions on a flash drive with a minimum of 8 GB or higher only. It must be a dedicated drive with ONLY your Photo Journal and field questions on it. NO other files/doc. are allowed on the flash drive. If you have any other files/docs/programs. on the flash drive, it will NOT be accepted/graded.
2. You must use Microsoft Power Point (2010 or newer) to create your Journal.
Place two photos per Power Point slide and each photo must be clearly identified by
describing it and its importance/significance. (One to three sentences is
fine). DO NOT PLACE MORE THAN TWO PHOTOS PER PAGE.
3. Each stop must have a separate entry in your Photo Journal. If we make
twelve stops, then you must have at least twelve Power Point pages- one for each
stop.
4. CIRCLE EACH LANDFORM ON YOUR PHOTO using a BLACK PEN/Marker.
5. Each photo must be clearly identified. The date, time, SIGNIFICANCE and location MUST be clearly marked under each photograph.
DO NOT SHARE PHOTOGRAPHS. This is plagiarism and will be reported to the dean.
I recommend taking TWO or more shots to ensure you have all the photographs
you will need.
It’s better to take several photos of each site in case one photograph turns
out poorly.
I will grade you on neatness, clarity and to an extent photocomposition. You
want to make sure that the geographic landform you will be photographing is
in the CENTER of the photograph and is clearly seen.
I REQUIRE that you HIGHLIGHT (CIRCLE) the feature on your photograph by circling
using a BLACK PEN/marker. This will enable me to see your work more clearly.
5. When you have completed your Photo Journal, place the pages in date/stop
order. You will also include the Field Questions on your flash drive.
FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INTSRUCTIONS WILL RESULT IN A LOWERING OF YOUR GRADE OR MAY LEAD TO IT NOT BEING GRADED AT ALL.
Extra Info:
1. Limited to class participants only.
2. Transportation, motel lodging and food are the responsibility of the student.
